Juan M. Piñero
Teacher at the UCA since 1991, his thesis project was awarded and selected by the evaluation committee of the COOPERS & LIBRAND EUROPEAN DOCTORAL COLLOQUIUM IN ACCOUNTING held in Graz (Austria) in April 1997, to represent the European Accounting Association at the AMERICAN ACCOUNTING ASSOCIATION’S DOCTORAL CONSORTIUM held that same year in Tahoe City (California) by the American Accounting Association.
His PhD thesis was awarded the Extraordinary Doctoral Thesis Prize for the 2000-2001 academic year.
He has participated in three research projects funded by the Andalusian Regional Government and in three other competitive research projects funded by the Ministry.
With regard to teaching, he has been a lecturer at the University of Cadiz since 1991, working on a permanent basis from 2004 to the present. During this time, he has had experience in a wide variety of courses and levels, including non-formal education, Doctoral and Master’s programmes and teaching in English both inside and outside the University of Cadiz. In 2018 he obtained a favourable evaluation with a MENTION OF EXCELLENCE IN TEACHING (100 points) in the VI DOCENTIA-UCA call for applications. He has participated in more than 25 teaching innovation projects and in more than 30 programmes for teacher training. In the same line, he has coordinated six teaching innovation projects, one of which was awarded first prize by the Technical Commission for the Evaluation of Teaching Innovation Actions of the University of Cadiz; he has also obtained two other runners-up prizes.
In relation to internationalisation, he has participated in five European projects as a researcher, all of them within the Erasmus+ programme: Aiming to educate by promoting the academic dimension of Erasmus+, Eco/logical Learning and Simulation Environments in Higher Education and European Universities of the Seas, Education and European Universities of the Seas 2.0, and European Degree Label: Institutional Laboratory.
Within the management activity, he has held multiple positions since 2003: coordinator of the Business and Administration and Finance and Accounting Degrees, Director of the branch of the Faculty of Economic Sciences and Management at the Bahía de Algeciras campus, Vice-Dean of Business Internships, End-of-degree projects and Institutional Communication of the Faculty of Economic Sciences and Management. He is currently the General Director for Academic Issues of the University of Cádiz.
He is also currently the Director of the Master’s Degree in Institutional Trading Strategies and Alternative Investment Fund Management of the University of Cádiz.
